Have you ever noticed or wondered about the propeller that is adjacent to the driveway entrance to the locks and dams? As told by a member of the Corps of Engineers, years ago chamber #1 (the largest of the lock chambers and closest to Buzzie's Corner) was drained for maintenance. The propeller was laying at the bottom of the chamber. It was retrieved and mounted near the driveway entrance.

Evidently, a boat lost the propeller and nobody claimed it. When, how, and why the propeller came to be laying at the bottom of the chamber is a mystery.
